TULA-LA SA BAHAY: BUWAN NG WIKA IN THE NEW NORMAL

August 2020 – On Aug 31, Stonyhurst Southville International School-Malarayat (SSIS-M) celebrated Buwan ng Wika through ‘TULA-LA sa Bahay’. It was the first time ‘Buwan ng Wika’ was observed in the new normal era, but this never took the Kings’ spirit away in proving that they are all proud to be Filipinos.

In line with this celebration, the Filipino Department prepared simple activities for the students to do during their Filipino classes. Grades 1 and 2 had “Pagbabaybay ng Salita”, a game wherein they had to spell some Filipino words. A quiz bee entitled “Tanong Ko, Sagot Mo” was prepared for the students of Grade 3, 4, 5 and 6. Finally, Grades 7 to 11 did “Pagbabahagi ng Sariling Kasabihan” wherein they had to come up with their own saying and share it to the class.

The teachers and staff, headed by the principal, Ms. Donnabelle Atienza and the deputy principal, Ms. Maria Viola Villena, rendered a special song entitled “Umagang Kay Ganda” which was posted in the SSIS-M Facebook page. A beautiful message was then given by the loving Filipino Subject Area Head, Ms. Bless Ann Mea. She said that she believes that distance is not an issue as language unites the nation and its people.
