The Grade 12 students of SSIS Malarayat recently embarked on one of the most significant activities in Senior High School – the Work Immersion. From April 2-12, 2019, students of Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics (STEM) and Accounting, Business & Management (ABM) had been immersed in various institutions to observe, witness and experience first-hand what the industry is all about.
SSIS partnered with major and prominent companies in the country such as UNILAB (United Laboratories), Chinabank, Mt. Malarayat Golf & Country Club, Batangas Electric (BATELEC), Lipa Medix Medical Center, Mary Mediatrix Medical Center and Toyota.
Work immersion activity is an integral part of the Senior High School curriculum which aims to provide the students the necessary hands-on experiences in securing a job. It is a venue where they can apply their competencies and, acquire knowledge relevant to their chosen track. It also aims to enhance the students’ communication skills and human relations.
Before the actual work immersion, the Grade 12 class went through a series of sessions that delved into securing a job including preparation of resume and a mock interview by different HR practitioners. At the end of each site visit, students take with them a new perspective and learning that they may be able to use as they choose their own careers.
