“MONSTER” MATH CONTESTS ACED BY STONYHURST LIPA

Team Stonyhurst Southville – Tongson, Lee and Cortez – at the Ateneo De Manila University, excited for Sipnayan 2019.

Stonyhurst Southville International School (Lipa City) topped 2 of the most difficult and prestigious national Math competitions in the country for Grade School. Known as the “halimaw” among Math competitions, the University of the Philippines’ 10th Annual Nationwide Search for the Little Math Wizard and Ateneo’s Sipnayan 2019 were aced by our amazing kings early this month.

On November 9, 2019, the 10th Annual Nationwide Search for the Little Math Wizard was held at the PHIVOLCS Auditorium. Out of many Grade 5 and Grade 6 students who participated in the competition, only 3 students emerged victorious, with Michael Gerard Tongson bagging the 1st Runner-Up Award, beating 21 other schools including Ateneo de Manila Grade School, De La Salle Lipa, Colegio San Agustin Makati, International School Manila, Southville International School and Colleges, UP Integrated School, UST Angelicum College. The 10th Annual Nationwide Search for the Little Math Wizard is a competition for grade 5 and grade 6, presented by the UP Mathematics Club, and the Actuarial Society of the Philippines.

The week after, the Ateneo Mathematical Society conducted Sipnayan 2019 Grade School Division. The event was held on November 16, 2019 at the Ateneo De Manila University with 59 Teams and 32 schools competing. Stonyhurst Southville International School – Malarayat snatched 2nd Place with Michael Gerard Tongson, Prinxyl Shifrah Cortez and Jomer Wilson Lee consisting of our formidable team.
