CHAMPION IN 2019 MTAP COMPETITION

The KINGS nailed this year’s series of the prestigious Metrobank-MTAP-Deped Math Challenge, dominating in the District Level, Division Level, and Regional Level; and now, vying for a place in the Nationals.

The exciting journey started on January 17, 2019 for the District Level with the Grade School team from Grades 1-6 winning GRANDSLAM and bagging the FIRST PLACE and TOP SCORERS for all levels. Grade 1 consists of Prinx Cortez and Rod Jacob Manalo; Grade 2 – Keisha Sophia Mission and Irish Yohann Balahadia; Grade 3 – Aidan Rosita and Alyana Marquez; Grade 4 – Zheanna Bacay and Jan Feliza Siscar; Grade 5 – Michael Tongson and Jom Kaw; Grade 6 – Gadriel Symone Dalangin and Nonoy Valencia. For the High School Department, Grade 8 (Victoria Garcia and Michael Lumbera) and Grade 10 (Charlize Alvarez and Eris Buenaventura) qualified for the District Level. Moreover, Grade 9 Teacher-Coach, Ms. Rhyby Vergara was hailed Top Scorer landing Second Place in the Special Math Challenge for Coaches.

After the outstanding performance in the District Level, the KINGS had landed in the top spots in the Division Level held during the 2nd week of February 2019. Once again, all teams in the Grade School Department placed in the said competition:

The Grade 6 Team, being the Champion, geared up compete in the Regional Competition. Gadriel Symone Dalangin, top scorer of Individual Category, had been hailed as the Division representative.

The KINGS did not disappoint in the Regional Finals! The tandem of Gadriel Symone R. Dalangin and James Gabriel R. Valencia continued to dominate MTAP by winning CHAMPION in the Grade 6 Team Category during the 2019 Metrobank-MTAP-Deped Math Challenge Regional Finals last March 1, 2019 at Lalaan Central School, Silang, Cavite. The team of Syd and Nonoy bested participants from 21 schools in CALABARZON. Meanwhile, Syd also landed 1st Place in the Grade 6 Individual Category making him part of the qualified participants to the National Finals. Coach – Teacher Cris Jeanel Sanchez, also won 3rd Place in the Teacher’s Category for Grade 6 Coaches.

This is the first time that Stonyhurst Southville International School – Malarayat Campus participated in the Regional Finals and is now bound to the National Finals. The school congratulates the students, as well as the parents and teachers for this amazingly difficult feat!
