Flashback Friday: A Story of Resilience and Community Support
This week’s Flashback Friday takes us back to 2014, when Typhoon Glenda, one of the strongest typhoons to hit Lipa City and its neighboring towns, tested our strength and resilience.
SSISM, with its towering building, faced significant damage—particularly the roof, which couldn’t withstand the powerful winds. The aftermath led to weeks of clearing operations. During this challenging time, the High School Department had to temporarily relocate. We were generously and warmly welcomed by the St. Francis de Sales Theological Seminary, who offered their space to keep our school year moving forward without disruption.
This moment of resilience serves as a timely reminder, as we’ve just experienced another powerful storm, Severe Tropical Storm Kristine. While the devastation brought by Kristine has impacted many areas, this flashback teaches us that, no matter how fierce the storm, there is always hope on the other side. With community support and perseverance, we will rebuild, and brighter days are ahead.
